Fire Cupping
An ancient art
One of the oldest techniques in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Glass cups, warmed with a flame, create suction on the skin, drawing the skin and muscle gently upwards.
Fire cupping
How it works
A flame briefly warms the air inside a glass cup, which is then placed on the skin. As the air cools, it creates suction. Cups may stay in place for a few minutes, or glide over oiled skin as a kind of massage.
How it feels
You'll feel a firm pulling sensation, which many people find deeply relaxing. It's stronger than my other treatments, so I'll check in with you throughout, and we can adjust or stop at any time.
Afterwards
Round marks are normal and usually fade within a few days to a week, so it's worth bearing in mind if you have a special occasion coming up. Drink plenty of water and keep the rest of the day light.
Is it right for you?
Cupping isn't suitable for everyone. For example, it isn't used during pregnancy, over broken or sensitive skin, or if you bruise easily or take blood-thinning medication. As a nurse, I'll always ask about your health and any medical care before we begin.
Cupping can be a treatment on its own, or part of a KORE Therapy session. [To confirm with Katie.]
