Gentle Release Therapy®
Acupuncture without the needles
A gentle, hands-on therapy that works with energy, using Traditional Chinese Medicine theory. It's fully clothed, the touch is light, and nothing is forced. I use my intuition to shape each session around you, so no two treatments are quite the same.

What it draws on
More than one way of working
In a session I bring in whatever feels right for you, so you never need to choose a technique. There's no attunement and no ritual.
01
Traditional Chinese Medicine
Different emotions are linked with different organs: grief with the lungs, fear with the kidneys, frustration with the liver, all connected like a web.
02
Cranial release
Softening tension at the head and jaw, working alongside the abdominal releases. Light touch, no manipulation.
03
Gentle energy work
Hands held over the organs of the chest and abdomen, following where emotions tend to settle. No needles, no pressure.
04
Endocrine and lymphatic release
Gentle work informed by endocrine and lymphatic approaches, given space, time and attention.
05
Nervous-system informed
Throughout every session I go slowly and make sure you feel comfortable and at ease.
Why people come
Mostly, because of life
Women, men and children come to Gentle Release Therapy through perimenopause and menopause, through grief, alongside medical treatment, or simply because life has been a lot. We'll always think about your circumstances, any medical care you're having, and whether this is right for you.
Many people arrive feeling:
- stressed or overwhelmed
- exhausted from holding everything together
- out of balance after illness, hormonal changes or a difficult time
- "stuck", without really knowing why
- disconnected from themselves
- simply ready for some support
What happens in a session
Simpler than people expect
Arriving
You take your shoes off and settle in with a short, gentle chat. Share what feels useful, and nothing you'd rather keep private. Then you get comfortable, fully clothed, lying down or sitting.
During
My hands rest gently at the head and jaw, the neck, the spine, the abdomen and the feet. You can talk, or drift off to sleep. You may notice small sighs or yawns, or nothing at all, and both are fine.
Afterwards
Everyone is different. Some people feel deeply relaxed, others pleasantly tired, and some notice very little at the time. Drink plenty of water, and keep the rest of the day a little lighter if you can.

Children and distance sessions
Shorter, or from home
The work is gentle enough for children and babies. Distance sessions let you rest comfortably at home while I work with you.
A few things people ask
Do I need to believe in energy?
Not at all. You're welcome exactly as you are, with all your curiosity and any of your doubts.
How is it different from Reiki?
I've trained in both. They're each forms of energy work, but Gentle Release Therapy is more structured, drawing on Traditional Chinese Medicine and the body's own systems, with no attunement or symbols. Read the fuller answer on the blog.
What if I cry, or don't feel anything?
Both are perfectly alright. A quiet session is every bit as valid as an emotional one.
Can I have it alongside medical treatment?
Yes. Gentle Release Therapy sits comfortably alongside other care. It's a complement, never a replacement, and as a nurse I'm always happy to talk this through.
A note about my approach: Gentle Release Therapy draws on Traditional Chinese Medicine and ideas about energy. These are how I understand and practise the work, rather than established medical explanations, and I offer it to support relaxation and wellbeing alongside your medical care.
